Hello, this post is going to be about my current little project; a Halloween inspired battle vest. This will be a work in progress, so it's not finished just yet. But, I like the idea that it was started on Halloween. I plan to only DIY it every Halloween from this point forward, so it will be more special than just doing the whole thing in one solid go.
So, the backstory: I obtained a black jean jacket once upon a time and had no real need for it for the longest. This year, while rummaging my old scraps, I found it again and thought; "if you aint gonna do something with this thing, imma toss it in the trash!" Soooo.... I chopped off the sleeves, splattered some bleach and turned it into a vest. Looked nice, kinda spooky. The splotches look like vintage Halloween, so it's a nice start.
While doing my annual Halloween shopping, I stumbled upon some nice pins that I plan to add on this vest. Most are thrifted, but I also got a few at my local store.
Here are some more pins, I really love these ones.
I want to do so much with this vest. I also want sentimental items, like seasonal themed fabrics from my parents or odds and ends I find around town. Basically, this is going to become a "junk journal" of vests. A collective art assemblage of Halloweeny oddities~
Anyways, that's it. I told you, it's not complete yet. The bleaching was entirely accidental. I didn't think it would take but I was pleasantly surprised to see it worked.
I'll update with more concepts and ideas soon... but remember, it will only be touched on Halloween this year AND the years next.
Xoxo
