👄A DeCeMBeR To DiSmEmBeR (PT2) [Holidays Looks of 2018]👄 | Hannabal Marie

Our Holidays Looks!
Hello ladies and gentlefish
I am bringing you a recap of Christmas 2018--
all the looks we (Me and Ghost Lee) created for the holidays.

It has become something like a tradition to always add to the collection from the years before--
2017 was the year that started this tradition--though we've been doing "looks" our whole life.
Mostly for Halloween and other darkly-aesthetic holidays...
but 2017 was the year we decided to do Christmas related things because, well, who said Xmas had to always be PG13? lol

A few of my personal favorites from then was the Yule Log cookie look I did, with the help of my brother who designed and created me the unique Cake wig! But so many from 2017 that really kick-started us into this odd holiday direction.

These were the looks from 2017!
Left to Right--The Ghost of Christmas Past, Mr. Scrooge, Female Krampus, Baby It's Cold Outside, Yule Log, Dolls Kill, Oh--Deer, Gryla
& La Befana!

A lot of amazing looks--some I am very proud of and will probably be proud of for years to come.
But last year--we added to this collection and created 9 more.
The collection shall continue to grow until we both are basically dead. lol
*or until we run out of ideas! lol

♥️Cult Fragrance x The Cannibal Carnival Presents: Christmas EVIL & Folklore Noire Perfume Oils♥️ | Hannabal Marie

OUR CREATIONS!
Hello ladies and gents
This has been in the making since last year, but I am here to finally make it official!
I am apart of a group called The Cannibal Carnival on Facebook--have been for quite some time.
What started out as just a nice way to gather like-minded individuals into one place, has now blossomed into over 28K+ fans and counting.

We specialize in the dark and macabre--posting hand-written facts, customized content, odd & strange finds, interesting information about all sorts of things that go bump in the night. It has been a family page, consisting of me and my brother (with the help of my mom and dad, as well.) Never did we think we'd end up where we are now, communicating with so many amazing people on a daily and getting the chance to collaborate with companies that come our way.
Cult Fragrance and The Cannibal Carnival Presents~
That is why I am here announcing this amazing collaboration between us,
The Cannibal Carnival and Cult Fragrance.
I have already went into full detail about Cult Fragrance in a separate post about some incense and items I purchased from her shop a while back, that can be viewed HERE.
But we came together to create this KILLER holiday and folklore line.

All the scents are novelty, but can also be worn as frequent as you like.
Most people nowadays just want to smell good--but good doesn't cut it for us.
We want to smell like a story, a fairy tale or just plainly obscure.
I like scents that send me away to a different realm and allow me to break free from reality.
That is exactly what we, The Cannibal Carnival and Cult Fragrance has came up with these two scent lines.
I couldn't be happier with our creations. They look so beautiful together!

🎠Curious Revival--Eclectic Vintage Assemblage Doll Art (+ A Human Porcelain Doll Look)🎠 | Hannabal Marie

Hello ladies and gentlemen,
As an avid collector of the strange and unusual oddity--finding items that both speak to me on a "odd" level, as well as being beautifully designed enough to wear and own is something I have always felt lacked in my world. Usually, I'd take to thrift stores to find strange items or stumble upon a gold mine surfing on eBay--but never, in a million years, have I ever found an artist who works with two things I am quite passionate about--antique doll parts AND vintage items.

Now, I have seen doll assemblage art done before
but never in such a jaw-dropping way that gives you a bit of pride to own.

First impression upon receiving my package! The green paper tissue gave it such a nice touch!

Curious Revival combines both vintage and doll into unique, one-of-a-kind wearable jewelry or home decor for the morbid at heart, like myself.

Quirky in contrast, with names such as "Oh, You Beautiful Doll" with a porcelain doll face smiling up at you from a vintage bracelet or "Be a deer and go fork yourself” with a cute ceramic ballerina bear dancing gracefully on top of an old vintage bottle, holding a silver fork.

The names that Absinthe Angi (The creator of Curious Revival) comes up with are such punny knee-slappers that just makes owning these items all the more sweeter!
The logo is truly fitting of someone like me~

True to the name, these items are indeed just that--curiouser and curiouser.
It warms the heart of this vintage loving, antique admiring, oddity collector to extremes.

If you have a soft spot for things such as this or if you need a great conversation starter--

I'd highly advise checking out this shop and placing a purchase.
I have a few items to show you, along with a look I designed to thank the creator for creating such gorgeous items for me.
I will get straight into my showcase and stop my blabbing.

In short, I really admire Curious Revival and it's just safe to say--
you have to see it, to believe it...

👺 Re: Monsterz of Mayhem Ceramics | Hannabal Marie 👺

Hello ladies and gents
A while back I did a review/showcase for Monsterz of Mayhem on this blog,
highlighting and detailing some of their products.
That post can be found HERE!

Well, a while back MoM contacted me again asking if I'd like to have some more of their work--Goblets this time. I couldn't contain the happiness, so I agreed.
This is why I am bringing them back in another post.

I could have just received and never said anything
but I couldn't let that slide without mentioning the kindness.
So, I felt compelled to write up a little post highlighting these beautiful goblets,
just like I did for the other ceramics they sent me previously.

If you'd like to read a full length detailed post about what MoM stands for and who they are, I'd highly consider clicking the link above and reading up on the review I created about them already.
This is just to thank them for giving me these goblets in the best way I know how--pictures! :)

Thank you, MoM once again!
You didn't have to but I highly appreciate that you did.
Thank you so much!

Enough with the chit-chat, allow me to show you the products:

🎄 Xmas 2018 Haul--VTG Ursula Tee, Handmade Gypsy Necklace & Grumpy Cat PJs 🎄 | Hannabal Marie

Hello ladies and gents,
As promised, I am here to show the presents I received for xmas.
Some of these items are actually shared presents and one of them isn't even mine
but I wanted to include because I was happy to have gotten it for my brother. lol

Anywho, if you want to read about the kinds of stuff we did for Xmas as a whole, you can check out that post HERE.

This isn't that, this is just the gifts.
I'm giving you guys two different posts, so that no one can come complaining to me that I gagged them with an unnecessary haul or that I was flashing something in their faces.
You got two posts to choose from--if you see it fit.

You clicked on this haul, you are gonna read the haul. lmfao

🎅 Merry Christmas 2018--Christmas Prep, Eve Shenanigans & Gift Wrapping! 🎅 | Hannabal Marie

I made these rocks for my mom.
She wanted the words "Let It Snow" to be on them in some way, so I painted them like that.
Not my best work but she likes 'em.

Hello ladies and gents,
I am sorry for the long delay, I have been nursing an illness.
Aside from that, I've been so damn tired since Christmas Eve,
I decided to take a few days off to just catch up on some Z's and take care of myself.

Since it's a New Year, I want to recap on some of my Christmas fun!
Giving Christmas kisses to my dad Charlie. This reminds me of one of those renaissance paintings.
We didn't do a lot this Christmas, which is pretty much every year--Not complaining at all.
Truth being told, this time of year, I just like to cozy up on the couch with my pets
and experience the holidays as the warm festive occasion it is.
(Despite the weather being quite frightful!) lol

I took a lot of photos throughout the whole month of December, as usual...
but only am I posting NOW about it all.
I got a few mini hauls (I know, I know...I have been getting complaints from a few people that my hauls "bore" them, so I shall keep it all in one post!) and some other fun little shots I took that felt right at the time. I honestly forgot what types of photos I took, so this is going to be fun for the both of us. lol

🔥"Jack Straw" Inspired By The Ancient Effigies of Hungary🔥 | Hannabal Marie

Hello ladies and gents
To end the "New Years" in style, I decided to do a sort of  "educated" makeup look.
Something that was much more than slapping on some makeup and calling it a day.

I wanted to do something that would inform people just as well as educate them, too.
So, I give you--JACK STRAW!

"Hurts my ears to listen, Shannon
Burns my eyes to see.
Cut down a man in cold blood, Shannon
Might as well be me...

So, Jack Straw from Wichita
Cut his buddy down
Dug for him a shallow grave
And layed his body down.

In Hungary, they celebrate the New Year by burning effigies or "scapegoats" known as Jack Straws.
They are supposed to represent the evils and misfortunes of the past year bundled up in a "human" body. Before they burn them, however, they parade our the town holding them up and showing them to the townspeople.

If you google search "Jack Straw" not a lot is up about them.
I had to dig a little deep into old texts and documents to find out just this much about them but it is there, you just need the right word usage. Otherwise, you'll end up looking up something else--like the vintage game of Jack Straws.

Upon stumbling on this bit of information and the overall significance these effigies held with some people in Hungary, it really made me fall in love with the custom as a whole.

I am a HUGE lover of the classic Scarecrow!
So this really tug at my existing love of the similar humanoid thing.

And since I am a artist by own personal right--I felt compelled to try my hand at a look inspired by this old custom. I really hope I did the Hungarian people justice for such a beautiful tradition!

I really felt like it was best I recreated this, not only to inform those who didn't know but also perhaps shine a little light on this custom for myself. Partake in the burning of my 'older self' and rid myself of my own evils and misfortunes of my own past years. Thus by recreating this look, I am--in some way or another--becoming my own effigy!

💛The Golden Years (New Years Makeup Collaboration w/ Ghost Lee) | Hannabal Marie💛

Hello ladies and gents
Aside from the gentleman look I created in a previous post HERE
I also created a flapper look inspired by New Years vintage postcards, as well.

This was an actual collaboration between me and Ghost Lee Art!
I chose to do a vintage inspired look that is supposed to represent the New Years in the past,
while he did a more modern future approach.
Together, we have the PAST & FUTURE!

"Go thou thy way and I go mine,
Apart, yet not afar;
Only a thin veil hangs between
The pathways where we are"

🎉"My Simple Man" by Hannabal Marie (New Years Makeup Look)🎉 | Hannabal Marie

Hello ladies and gents
For the ending of the year,
I wanted to do a few looks to honor the ending of 2018 as well as the beginning of 2019.

Something that not only looked gorgeous but also spoke volumes to the person I am--
the weird, strange and androgynous woman I happen to be.

I saw a few images on Instagram, as well as stumbled upon a few vintage postcards/photographs that really inspired me to create what I am about to show you all today.

This is what inspired me to do a male look for New Years.

Mainly was inspired to recreate this same exact hat.
It was an ingenious idea and I needed to have one of my own!

I fell in love with this little postcard cartoon sketch. So, I recreated this scene in a photo.
I might actually recreate it completely in the future. Just for the thrill of it. lol

Another shot that was in my reference folder on my laptop.

And lastly, this shot inspired me with doing the same thing.
But MY spin was dressing as a man and doing this with heels on. (hence the photo I took!)

⭐New Years Eve Magic--Bay Leaves, 12 Wish Grapes & Paper Intentions/Desires⭐ | Hannabal Marie

Hello ladies and gents,
I decided to do a little simple magic for the New Year.
Nothing to extreme, just traditional magic that I always do every year--
But this time, I wanted to document it for people to see rather than keeping it to myself.

I have a little box that holds most of my herbs/spices, along with my ceremonial plates and tools.
Most of the stuff is used constantly, just for basic spellwork or personal little workings but I do have a special holiday box that contains stuff for Samhain, Yule, Winter Solstice in general and So on.

This being apart of it, with the New Year bell and special plate.
Both were found thrift shopping and have very special significance for me.

All my little things laid out nicely on my blessed plate.

I didn't get to document Samhain or my Yule workings, only because I am a clutz sometimes and when I get in the moment, major things like this slip my mind but even those workings weren't anything too major--more personal little spells that helped to pass another holiday.
