Since the dawn of man, message sending has always been such a major turn of events. As technology advances, though--paper mail has sadly come to a halt. Before computer generated greetings of today, there was first messengers of news. But before man, there was bird!
Birdalay has created a rather unique approach to the modern greeting card. Delivering messages in forms of tiny scrolls embedded into fragile bird eggs. Each egg, depending on the preference you request, are laid on a bedding of either moss or grass--resembling a bird nest. Each bird nest is stuffed in a decorative box, ready for the recipient to "crack open" as the lip of the lid suggests. So, each box is custom and personal, feeling special for every delicate occasion. I personally love the whimsical novelty of these eggs because, in my opinion, it gives a whole new meaning to an ancient custom of bird sent messages.

common Rock Pigeon, which has an innate homing instinct, to be
especially good at the task of flying home again, even from long

Aside from the historical aspect, these bird egg messages can also have a very spiritual meaning depending on how you view them. To many people, birds are seen as a variety of things--from Angels, Animal Totems and/or Spirit Guides. So, having someone who has a connection with birds be gifted with such a beautiful little gift box could greatly be seen as something much more than the novelty.
What I also love is that eggs can easily be sent back to earth, so messaging back and forth using Birdalay won't clutter up the environment. Or on the other side, give us Witches something to use since egg shells are a common ingredient in spellwork. So, it's a win-win sort of thing. haha

Birdalay was kind enough to give me 4 boxes of their beautiful eggs to review today. 2 was from their latest Halloween special, while the other two are a common staple on their website. I received 2 Raven eggs, one Dragon egg and one standard Bird egg.

I chose the Dragon egg for my father, since he is obsessed with Dragons.
The golden egg is made out of a real quail egg, so the experience was
definitely amazing to listen to as he cracked into it. You get to chose
the font--Normal or Game of Thrones. There is a section where you can
customize the text, too.
I
got a velvet matte round black box, with green moss. Complete with
label sticker, to match the overall theme. The wonderful thing about the
sticker is that Birdalay puts the special person's name on the front,
to give it an even more personal feel.
The texture on the golden Dragon egg was such a nice touch. It really gave me that 'Game of Thrones' fantasy feel.
Watching my father crack into it was the single most satisfying thing to witness.
I was told that you can have simple text or decorative details--like I did with mine here. I personally think the little dragon decals make this all the more unique.

I was told that no label goes on the bird box because of how decorative it already is. And quite rightly so, you don't want to block any of that beautiful illustration.
This egg was for my mother, and she had quite a hard time breaking it open only because she thought it was too cute to shatter. lol
The message is a quote my mother lives by, and I wanted her to remember always!
Raven Eggs--Halloween Special
These were a one-off for the holiday. Mine came in a matte velvet box, but you could have selected just about any box, customized it to your hearts content. The black against the black really make these perfect for the spooky season!

I was just like my mother, I didn't want to break the beauty but I must--I had to--for the sake of the review. lol
I'm not too entirely sure they sell the Raven eggs right now anymore, considering it was a Halloween special, but it was such a unique thing to see a company do for a Holiday!
